General Definitions

Current Legal Framework Date: February 21, 2026

Disclaimer: The definitions provided below are based on active Indian law, primarily The Code on Social Security, 2020. We will actively try to update this tab as labor laws and platform compliance regulations evolve in India.

Core Legal Definitions

1. Gig Worker

As explicitly defined under Section 2(35) of The Code on Social Security, 2020, a "gig worker" means a person who performs work or participates in a work arrangement and earns from such activities outside of a traditional employer-employee relationship.

2. Gig

Derived from the legal framework above, a "gig" refers to the specific work arrangement, task, or shift executed by a gig worker. It is characterized by its temporary, on-demand, or task-based nature, completely separate from formal payroll employment.

3. Gig Creator (The Client)

While the law uses the term "User" or "Buyer" of services, in the GigGuyz ecosystem, the "Gig Creator" is the independent enterprise client (e.g., Caterer, Event Planner, Film Producer). They are the business entity that generates the demand, posts the shift requirements, and directly compensates the Gig Worker for the completed task.
